Wood Countertops & Live Edge Wood

PAROTAS custom-selects each wood countertop and live edge wood based on quality and grain pattern. The two-tone colouring is iconic to this exotic hardwood from Mexico, as is parota’s unique textured grain seen in live edge wood slabs.

Using the natural inspiration of live edge wood enables contractors and designers to use parota wood countertops as the cornerstone of their design. Contractors, architects and home designers can contact PAROTAS to order custom wood countertops or choose their own natural wood slab.

Custom Wood Countertops & Slabs

The natural beauty of parota wood countertops is enhanced by the intricate variety in grain patterns. The parota tree is known for reaching extraordinary sizes in a relatively short time, producing large branch structures and interesting knot patterns. Its growth properties also make it a lighter hardwood to work with, almost half the dried weight of oak. Incorporating the unique organic features of parota allows contractors and home designers to conceptualize truly one-of-a-kind wooden countertops and slabs.

PAROTAS uses a unique blend of natural oils to finish their wooden countertops, which organically retains parota’s natural moderate lustre and colouring, as well as being a safer product for your design environment. For custom wood countertops, contractors and home designers can choose their own natural cuts if available, or custom-order specific sizes.

PAROTAS brings modern design elements to their wooden countertops through iron, chrome, bronze and golden structures, as well as unique techniques such as luminescence and carbonized wood. Functional features can also be custom-ordered, such as hidden storage or shelving solutions. A variety of contemporary base structures can be custom-designed to personalise your wooden countertop. For examples, see our collections of wooden tablesbar tablescoffee tables and side tables.

Live Edge Wood Countertops

Live Edge Wood Slabs & Countertops

Live edge wood slab give contractors and home designers more room to work with parota’s two tones, the creamy sapwood that is uniquely demarcated from the golden brown heartwood. The large size of the parota tree enables round, cross-sectional cuts with complete, circular live edges from between 3–6.5 feet (1–2m). Vertical live edge wood slabs can also be sustainably sourced up to several metres long, including with a double live edge. The unique appearance and texture seen in parota live edge wood comes from the tree’s large pores.

Live edge wood slabs can also be adapted to PAROTAS’ modern collections, which include wood tablesbar tableswooden outdoor furniturebenchesstoolsheadboardsmirrors and wooden console tables. The neutral colouring of parota’s golden-brown heartwood makes it easy to match with a wide variety of design concepts, adding an understated finishing touch to modern kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms or bathrooms.

PAROTAS personally selects each live edge wood slab based on wood quality, colouring and grain pattern to ensure the best design. We also oversee quality control of the drying, fumigation and treatment processes, ensuring best practice standards.
